Nouri is a product and mobile integrated prototype, designed within two months. Nouri provides young adults with the opportunity to explore home gardening and the culinary arts through social media integrated learning initiatives. By targeting a younger audience, Nouri provides an opportunity to reduce childhood obesity and other nutrition-related health issues that may be carried on into adulthood.
2.3 million people live in low-income rural areas that are more than 10 miles from a supermarket. The lack of access healthy affordable foods contributes to a poor diet and can lead to higher levels of obesity and other diet-related diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease.
Assess & Analyze
Urban gardening is becoming more prevalent as people increase their concern for the lack of nutrients and the reprecussions of consuming chemicals, homones, and additives within their food. Urban teens were the target market for this project. A DIY and social media criterea would foster continuous engagement within this demographic.
Develop
I began my ideation phase by focusing first on exploring various, comprehensive systems for my product. Soon, I realized that the simpler the system, the better. To push myself towards this focus, I then developed a number of concepts for planters with modular irrigation systems. Once I settled upon a design, I could finally focus on a form that would correspond with the tastes of modern, urban teens. The end product appeals to teens’ budding interest in food and promotes wellness through gamification, customization, and social media sharing.
The Nouri Pod has 6 components, including a simple irrigation system. Jute cords provide your plants’ soil with consistent hydration. The simple form is optimal for creating modular systems of wall gardens.
The Kit
The Nouri kit is DIY based. This aspect reduces costs, creates an opportunity for exercising creativity through customization, and provide teens with the opportunity to learn hands on.

Interface
The complimentary Nouri App not only adds an element of fun and gamification, but is an integral part of the Nouri experience. It allows teens share pictures of their plants and recipes they come up with, provides nutritious & delicious recipe inspiration, educates about gardening, and helps users stay on top of caring for their fruits and veggies.

How to get started:
